I met a bunch of new people last week at a conference. I was with them for three days and, as it goes, you end up sharing a lot about your story. People want to know where you’ve come from and the background that’s led you to where you are today.
It made me realise that sometimes we forget what it’s like to be led.
Not managed. Not directed. Led.
Because if you reflect on your own experience, the leaders who shaped you weren’t the ones who hit the numbers hardest… they were the ones who made you feel something. Seen. Backed. Challenged. Safe.
And yet, in today’s world, leadership has become… flatter.
We lead the thinking. We measure the output. We manage the behaviour.
But we sometimes forget… the energy… the connection… the meaning.
That’s the gap.
Service leadership today isn’t about doing more. It’s about leading more of the humans in front of you.
Because when you only lead part of a person, you get compliance instead of commitment… activity instead of ownership…
The shift we’re seeing with 5D Service Leadership is simple, but not easy:
Move from leading performance…to leading the whole human.
Physical. Cognitive. Emotional. Social. Spiritual.
So maybe the better question isn’t: Are you a good leader?
It’s: Would you choose to be led by you?
